Pride In Peabody - Killing Our Pride For Political Gain
As owner of the new group Pride In Peabody (But With Better Admins) - I have been asked many times for the backstory on the events that led to its creation. It is rather long; so instead of having to constantly type out and explain what happened, I will officially give you the Pride In Peabody (But With Better Admins) Lore one last time.
You might want to grab a cigar and sit by the fire for this one.

Many people are aware that the Admins and Moderators of Pride in Peabody are Free speech stealing, power hungry, narcissistic, third rate, failed political hacks. To add to a list of all the things that the admins of Pride In Peabody are - hypocrites can now be added to the list.
If you had visited their group description a day earlier, you would have seen no mention of "EVERYBODY DESERVES TO HAVE A VOICE!!!!!". That's because it was never part of their mission until we showed them that they can easily be replaced by much better, more insightful, and less fragile members of the community.
Here is how the events unfolded :
Pride In Peabody has a rule that states Business Owners are only allowed to promote their company on Tuesdays and Saturdays -- which in our opinion isn't a great rule, but it's a rule nonetheless.
One day, without knowing this rule, I decided to post about a Digital Marketing Company I own.
Pride In Peabody has approved posting - which means every single post is reviewed by the entire admin and mod staff before they either choose to accept or decline the post based off their set of rules. Because business posts are only allowed on those two days - my post was declined.
Knowing that it was approved posting, I decided to submit another post that read "Only being able to post about your business on Tuesdays and Saturdays is WACK!!!" with hopes that this would open up a discussion.
This led the main Admin of the group to message me personally :
And then this is where the personal attacks began.
Now, after we had this discussion, instead of simply "polling the members" he instead decided to click "approve post" on the post I had previously written about business posts on "Tuesdays and Saturdays only" being wack.
The Admin/Mod team of Pride In Peabody has a Facebook messenger chat where they all communicate and conspire. How do I know this? - I was inside it.
Prior to this happening, the head Admin invited me to help with the group because of my history of growing many Facebook groups, with some totaling over 50,000 members in only a year's time.
The head admin used this as an opportunity to try and control the narrative instead of actually letting the community decide what would be best.
Within seconds of him approving the post, he had all of the admins and moderators' comment on the post saying things like "Nobody wants this!", "You don't know what you're talking about!", and things to that affect. Before anyone in the community had a chance to form their own opinion, there were already 7 people on my post sent to pick it apart.
If you know how the Facebook algorithms work, when there is a commotion that is disagreeable - it will show this activity to more disagreeable people that are likely to comment on the post themselves.
This created an admittedly toxic post, that turned into me having to defend myself to about 8 different people. And for what?; A little pushback about posting about my company in Peabody where I have grown up and lived my entire life. The admin also admitted after that they previously changed from only posting about your business on Saturdays to Saturdays and Tuesdays - because of pushback they had received by other people prior to this event.
And that was always fine with me. If the people genuinely did not want to see a group cluttered with business posts with owners that live in Peabody promoting their services - that is a democratic conclusion that I am happily willing to accept. But needless to say, that is not what happened.
Unfortunately (for your viewing pleasure) all of the comments made defaming me and my business have since been deleted - but they included things like "your business must be failing if you have to post on a facebook group page" - Ironically enough, people taking time to do proper marketing and engaging with the community are usually getting better results than exclusively doing outbound sales processes.
My personal favorite was the head Admin telling the entire group of 10,000 people that I "must have been drinking early" - acting like I was intoxicated for having the opinion that I did. Now, allow for me to define something for you:
Projection; To transfer or attribute one's own emotion or desire to (another person), especially unconsciously. Projection refers to unconsciously taking unwanted emotions or traits you don't like about yourself and attributing them to somebody else. What does it mean when somebody is projecting? Here are some signs -
1. Feeling overly hurt, defensive, or sensitive about something someone has said or done.
2. Feeling highly reactive and quick to blame
3. Difficulty being objective, getting perspective, and standing in the other person's shoes.
Personally, I rarely drink -- even on the weekends. Why should I have to justify myself?
Now that we have that straightened out -
The next day I woke up, and noticed that I had been restricted from posting in the group - in a group with approved posting (which makes no sense). Obviously placing restrictions that have no consequence is part of their gig and makes them feel more in control. I took this as an opportunity to go into the Admin/Mod Facebook group chat that all 8 of us were in.
This exchange led to nothing productive, and they all said that they placed the restriction because I posted TWICE in ONE DAY!!! Heavens forbid!!! (It's important to keep in mind that they were the ones that approved my posts....) and then proceeded to tell me that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". They have never met my family, nor has anyone in my family ever met them. These are "Pride In Peabody" admins of a City page designed to (according to their new rules) "GIVE EVERYONE A VOICE!!!!"
It gets even better!
I then waited until the following Saturday to post my Company Business Page. "Oh my GOD! It's finally Saturday, I can't wait to post my business page in Pride In Peabody on Facebook dot com!!!!" I wrote. -- And once again, the post was approved by the entire Admin team.
Once my post had been approved, the entire admin/mod team once again took this as a chance to attempt making me look like a fool - saying things like "This is your one post for the day, make it count". Why would a leader of a City page decide to be so publicly cynical? Obviously they knew I was post restricted, and I knew I was post restricted, and they knew that I knew I was post restricted. So what was the real intent? Defamation.
Luckily for me, many people in Pride In Peabody still have a brain despite what their Admins think.
Many people saw what they were doing to a Peabody business owner and how they attempted to defame and ridicule with every single possible opportunity that presented itself. Some people started speaking out against what they were doing. The Admins and Moderators started commenting on my post saying things like "You are not a professional business owner" - simply because I was making a joke (which many people enjoyed, and was its' purpose). I asked them multiple times to simply leave me alone and let me interact with the community in the way that I want, whether they agree with my methods or not.
After that happened apparently, without my knowledge, the Admins had made a Poll inside the group with 10,000 Peabody residents - who were very possibly unaware of any of the previous arguments and discussions - asking if I should be banned from the group completely - for -- Honestly, I still have no idea what. 😒
From what I was told and from what I understand, the poll went so horribly and not in their favor that the poll itself got reported so many times by the group members that it had to be taken down automatically by Facebooks policy on harassment/bullying (I am assuming) accusations. People started speaking out to a crazed, wild, and narcissistic admin team that what they are doing goes against everything they are trying to do, and at the same time being poor and disgusting role models. They can't be wrong! They can never be wrong!
Once the tides had turned on the Admin/Mod team of Pride In Peabody, they did the only thing they know how to do: BAN EVERYONE THAT DISAGREES!!!!!!
However before I got banned I told them one thing -- If you ban me from this group, it will be the worst decision you have ever made since its inception. They took it as a threat; but it was a promise.
And that's exactly what happened. They banned me, and a bunch of people that publicly agreed with me. At this point I had found out they have been doing this to Peabody residents for years. There was no telling how many people lost their ability to express their true feelings and opinions because of this type of despotic behavior. That was a social signal to me that there had to be a better way for the community of Peabody to have sometimes uncomfortable discussions that encourage and inspire progress.
And that is how Pride In Peabody (But With Better Admins) has come to be.
I want to make perfectly clear that I never had any intentions, motivation, or incentive prior to this catastrophe on making a City group. They even cheered me on, "If you don't like the rules, make your own group!". So, that's exactly what we did.
I hope if you have ever been a victim of circumstances similar to these, that you might find your way into our new community - being built and constructed by life-long Peabody residents that don't have, and have never had any hand in politics. (For now 😏)
You can help us stick it to them by joining the Facebook Group Pride In Peabody (But With Better Admins) and inviting your Peabody friends so that we can create a better protected, more open, friendlier, and accommodating Peabody community Group where you actually will still have your freedom of speech.
In summation :
After we created our group and saw how much the community wanted and needed a replacement, they decided to put on their group description "EVERYBODY DESERVES TO HAVE A VOICE!!!!!" using their own hypocrisy to obfuscate the truth, under the guise of Free Speech.
That being said, if all we have done is get them to actually follow their own new rule - Then we have succeeded in our endeavor -- and in a much quicker timeframe than anticipated.
